Some of the topics Mr. Hanevold will discuss are:
  • The situation in the Middle East is the most challenging and potentially dangerous issue in the world in our time.  The region is unstable which may lead to more conflict between countries in the region and countries outside.
  • The refugee situation is critical in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Africa.  Millions of people want to leave their homes and start a new life in Europe, North America or Australia. A great number of these refugees are economic migrants and not victims of armed conflicts. What can we do to make them change their mind?  How do we face the refugee crisis, not least in Europe?
  • Is Europe stagnating?  Is solidarity among European countries weakened?    What will Brexit lead to for the UK and the EU?  Should we worry about Russian aspiration?
  • The Presidential elections  - what is happening in America?

Mr. Hanevold will touch on other issues briefly such as -

  • Senior voters made the difference in the UK Brexit Referendum. Younger generations in many countries have problems finding a job; will they tolerate the older generations dominating them economically and politically?

  • How important will the climate issue be?  What about the effects of the digital world?
